THE WAY TO MY HEART IS: Sweets, vacations, Netflix, and food. I'M CRAVING: Some gelato, or the perfect milkshake with a burger on the side. I'D WALK 5,000 MILES TO: Find the perfect red shade of lipstick and for curly hair products half price. What inspired you to create Embrace Crowns?Women who experience similar everyday things that only we can understand. Bold women, feminist, curly queens, my ancestors’ history, the need to embrace our real culture. Powerful, creative, talented women. Females with a strong pair of ovaries (like the Wakanda warrior women) - they are my muse. How is your brand a reflection of you?My brand is a reflection of the dreams that used to have when I was a little girl. Always trying to find people, actresses, models, magazines, brands that I could identify myself with. I created a brand of the 3 S’s - for all shapes, sizes and shades. Embrace Crowns is the reflection and love that I have for cultures, literature, and creating stories behind every crown design. It represents my story and my ancestors story. It reflects sisterhood. Embrace Crowns is a reflection of the passion that I have for our roots, folklore, fashion statements, culture and natural beauty, empowerment, and unity.Had you always known that this would be your calling?I had planned something entirely different from what I am living now. When I was 19 I thought that I was going to be a writer in a very famous magazine, and by the time I was going to be 21, I was going to finish my novella, and maybe have a sequel by 23. I also thought that by 22 I was going to be married and maybe in my mid 30’s, I was going to start my own fashion brand. By 21, I made one of my most important decisions that has brought to where I am today. I decided to go natural, letting my curls be free.Years later, my naïve self believed that by graduating from college, everything was going to be resolved… but adulthood hit me hard. I graduated college, and started my Masters degree 6 months later, but my passion for traveling and fashion started to grow every year, so I decided to put my wedding on hold and I traveled.I worked full time as a teacher. I decided to do it all (that was the old me). This year, I turned 25, started my brand, quit my full-time job, started a self-discovery journey, and got to collaborate with different brands and influencers while still studying. Most definitely I wasn’t expecting all of these changes in one year. And secretly I’m loving every minute of it.You can learn more about Embrace Crowns and shop Sarah’s beautiful pieces at www.instagram.com/embrace_crowns.
